To The Who Will Settle For Nothing Less Than Sun Brewing Bierhaus on the south end of the brewery building at 1635 North Memorial Ave at the corner of East Fourth Street to the south is a closed-red space that’s filled with people camping and holding phone conferences, according to the site manager, who declined to be identified for safety reasons. On the west side and behind the wall of the brewery building is the new tasting room for local brewery, Joe Sattler, check out this site brewery’s longtime manager and brother-in-law. A portion of the space was vacated by a landlord in the early 2000s, but state law keeps the brewery open and this time it’s a free event — going by the way the place sounds a lot nicer than some of the areas the venue will serve. Under the terms of the lease, brewers may host special events, and the brewery is not open to city-to-city business. The site manager asks that you take advantage of the new three-stage indoor stage at the brewery — which adds an extra 2,000 seats — in part to highlight better beer and beer at the other Bierhaus venues around town.

By 8 p.m., you can arrive at the new Bierhaus at 2115 Seventh Avenue, where a service is available to the public immediately. The event is a five-stage affair featuring craft beers from seven different breweries, including West Coast favorites Impulse Dark Side and Fat Cider, as well as craft beers from three other craft brewers. Other special events include an outdoor festival outside the venue featuring a local farmer’s market on East Fourth Street, live music at two stages in the Learn More bar, and a live performance of a few of Rob Blake’s classic guitar songs.

Sattler declined to be interviewed to talk about what’s next for the brewery. No other details were immediately available about his current plans for renovations. The Bierhaus new brewery is constructed out of two vertical glass houses owned by West Coast artisan breweries: Woodwind Meadery, based based in Columbus, and The Village, based in San Diego. The brewery’s new brewing styles have been available to customers in the California and North Dakota markets for decades, and no other brewery in the Northeast has been permitted for 24 years.
